Canada Moves by Truck!

CanadaMovesByTruck

The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA), the country’s national trucking group, in conjunction with the provincial trucking associations, launched National Trucking Week many years ago. It begins on the first Sunday in Sept. and runs to the following Saturday.

The purpose of the weeklong celebration is to recognize the important contributions made by the 400,000 Canadian men and women who keep the country’s freight moving.

Provincial trucking associations, carriers, industry suppliers and other stakeholders are encouraged to undertake activities in their own province to mark the event. In previous years, provincial associations have marked the occasion with newspaper supplements, radio advertising, contests, special promotions, and special events at truck stops and roadside inspection stations.

Carriers and industry suppliers have hosted BBQs, breakfasts, truck washes, offered special giveaways to employees and marked the week event with a wide variety of activities.

It takes everyone at McConnell Transport to move the freight.  We are all part of the over 400,000 people who keep the freight moving – office, drivers, shop and everyone in between work hard TOGETHER to keep it all moving forward.

McConnell Celebrates First Long Combination Vehicle Licensed Drivers

LongCombinationVehicleLicensedDrivers_20150625

Brian Parker and Charles Wilson received accreditation as the first Long Combination Vehicle Licensed Drivers within the McConnell Transport fleet.  Brian and Charles completed the Canada Safety Council Professional Driver Improvement Course and on June 12, 2015 the APTA LCV Driver Certificates were presented by McKenzie McConnell and Ross Wilson.

McConnell Transport has completed the first step in its Long Combination Vehicle program by obtaining permits for New Brunswick. It took a lot of teamwork and effort to obtain all the necessary equipment and information to support the permit application. It took further efforts of the team to complete the hands on training and certification of these first two drivers.

We are very pleased to mark this month in the history of McConnell Transport as a step forward in our continuing service to our customers and, in turn, their customers!
